ACCESS

• By car, you can consult the map on Google maps
• By train, you have to take the RER D direction Melun/Malsherbes and stop at the station Evry-Courcouronnes. Be careful: there are two stations at Evry (Evry and Bras de Fer). Make sure that your stop is at Evry-Courcouronnes. Then, it is possible to walk or to come by bus (402, stop at Lisière des 2 parcs).

About Évry

Évry is a commune in the southern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 25km from the center of Paris, in the "new town" of Evry Ville Nouvelle, created in the 1960s, of which it is the central and most populated commune. Originally the commune was called Évry-sur-Seine (meaning "Évry upon Seine"). The city of Évry is home to many firms (Accor, Carrefour etc.), the largest mall in Île-de-France and a national theatre.

Évry had just been chosen to become a "new town" of the suburbs of Paris, destined to host tens of thousands of suburbanites. Évry is demographically the second youngest town in France, with the average age of the population only 26 years. Half of its surface area is parkland and open space. The main thoroughfares are very wide avenues, and trees are to be found everywhere.

In the nationwide intercommunal competition "Ville Fleurie" (flowered town) Évry has been awarded the high status of "3 flowers", usually won by country villages. To encourage this aspect of the town an annual "Balcon Fleuri" (flowered balcony) competition is held. A similar balcony competition is held each December for the best exterior Christmas decorations.

Just 25 minutes from Paris by RER, Évry is near the countryside. The Forest of Fontainebleau is only 35 kilometres away.

The Université d'Évry Val-d'Essonne (UEVE) is a French public university located in Évry, (nearly of Paris), Île-de-France, and is one of the six founding members of UniverSud Paris. The University offers courses in Science, Technology, Law, Economics, Management and the Social Sciences.

Today, the university counts more than 10 000 students in both initial and ongoing training and the university has built a reputation as a center of excellence. Thanks to 18 laboratories and 3 doctoral schools, the university is also a significant research centre developing major projects.
